Carly Simon - Why

12" Single (Jade with Yellow Specs) $30.94
CD $12.99

Why is a studio single by American singer Carly Simon, released in 1982. Produced by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards (Chic), the song was recorded as part of the soundtrack for the 1982 film Soup For One. While the film was unsuccessful, "Why" peaked at #74 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Why"'s reggae-tinged synth pop sound is reminiscent of contemporary "chillwave" acts like Washed Out and Neon Indian. The song's extended version was heavily sampled by A Tribe Called Quest for their remix of their own "Bonita Applebum" (1990).
